Lauriane Faraut, a Master student from the University of Rennes (France), has joined the School of Psychology to spend a research period here as part of her Master degree. Lauriane will divide her time between Lincoln and Trentham Monkey Forest, near Stoke on Trent, where she will collect data for the Master project. Lauriane’s research focuses on male-male mounts in Barbary macaques and attempt to understand whether such mounts help males to reduce social tension and to maintain or establish social bonds. Non-sexual mounts between adult males are observed in various primate species but their role is little understood. Lauriane will work in collaboration with Dr. Bino Majolo and is already working hard to ID the monkeys at the park.
Welcome Lauriane, we hope you will enjoy your stay here!
